FOLDING PLANE
Located in Nairobi, the client requested for "Architecture that challenged the norm!"
So we asked ourselves, why do we separate walls, floors and roofs?
This resulted in an Architectural exercise in manipulating a single plane in 3 dimensions. The concrete plane wraps and folds while changing use and function ( wall, floor, pool, water feature, roof) to cohesively hold this beautiful home together.
This is also a zero Net Energy house, meaning it produces more energy than it consumes. All systems are run completely on solar and photovoltaic energy.
Toilet flush using rainwater and waste water biodigester feeds grey water into landscaping.
